Cape Town International Kite Festival
3 - 4 November
Zandvlei Nature Reserve, Muizenberg
With various kite-making workshops, non-stop kite-flying, craft and food stalls as well as kiddies’ rides, the festival offers fantastic outdoor family fun.
All profits go towards providing much needed mental health services to adults and children in poorly resourced communities in the Western Cape.
Elgin Open Gardens
3 - 4 and 10 - 11 November
See 25 open gardens which range from large established country gardens (some over 50 years old), to young, recently planted gardens in villages and on smallholdings.
Many gardens will have plants for sale, and some will also offer teas and light meals and wine tastings the gardens themselves. Many of the local cellars on the Elgin Wine Route will also be having wine tastings.
The Gift Fair
7 - 11 November
Hand-picked innovative products, home and garden accessories, fashion items,a variety of home-made gifts as well as a deli section with delicious and exotic food-gifts.
Discovery Cape Times Big Walk
The Discovery Cape Times Big Walk consists of 10 different routes starting at different points in the Cape Peninsula with all paths leading to Rhodes High School in Mowbray. The routes vary from 80km to 5km with proceeds going to selected charities.
The AFDA Graduation Film Festival
23 - 24 November
Ster Kinekor Cavendish Square, Claremont
The AFDA Graduation Film Festival is held annually showcase student graduation productions offering them a platform to promote the themselves to the film and television industry.
Cape Town Festival of Beer
23 - 25 November
Hamiltons Rugby Club, Green Point
Featuring over 150 beers from 40 plus breweries, this is the premier celebration of all things beer - both international and local - and a limited edition of beers brewed just for the Festival.
Cape Town Helicopters offer a variety of trips around Cape Town and the greater Western Cape.
Visit one of the regular Cape Town Markets sprouting up all over the Peninsula.
It's a nice way to slow down and experience some local and home-made goodies. I know it is fresh and that the producer is proud of the product.
As you walk around the stalls, feel free to start talking to the stall owner. They are more often than not passionate about their offering and will provide you with great information on how to use it correctly.
