Company Gardens: Slightly neglected, but a great way to approach the South African Museum. Children love chasing hordes of pigeons and fighting off tame squirrels.

Kloof Street for restaurant, bars and coffee shops.
Manna: great for long lunches
Gainsborough: nice for breakfast
Shelley's: wonderful fresh salads. Also had a great lentil bobotie there.
Cafe Paradiso: what a view!

If you are in Kloof Street and fancy having your hair done, try Tyler's. Great service, great roof terrace, great chatting.
