The Association For Visual Arts Gallery
The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) is one of Cape Town’s oldest non-profit art galleries. The main aim of the gallery, is the promotion of art and artists. Emphasis is placed on artists from the Western Cape, both established and emerging, formally trained or self-taught. Exhibitions change every three weeks ensuring that there is always an exhibition.

Any artist who wishes to exhibit at AVA must bring in works for review by a selection panel. Their decision to allow an artist to exhibit is made by majority vote. No feedback is given and their decision is final. As the gallery space is divided into four sections, four exhibitions can be held simultaneously and these four shows all share one opening function. The Artreach fund assists artists with their art-related needs. This however does not guarantee an exhibition. The Salon, is a relaxed area where artwork by artists from the region is showcased for longer periods. All works are for sale and are immediately available.
