Oude Libertas Summer Season Concerts

Community Chest Carnival

The annual Community Chest Carnival, raising funds for some 400 social welfare organisations, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

It began as a theatrical garden party in 1954 and over the past six decades has evolved into a pageant of international food, local entertainment and family fun, which attracts more than 100 000 people over four days.


Big Blues Music Festival

The BIG BLUES MUSIC FESTIVAL will not only host 16 of SA's Top Blues Musicians, but also the attempt of local businessman, Mr Jacques Holtman, to smash the World Braai Record!

Hout Bay Sandcastle Competition

OmmiBerg "Round the Rock" Festival 2011

During the OmmiBerg "Round the Rock" festival 2011, Paarl winemakers will open doors to celebrate nature's offerings.

Visitors will be given a glimpse into working wineries; picking their own grapes, taking tractor rides, stomping grapes and seeing how a grape press works while the kids are entertained with a wealth of activities.


Cape Winelands Film Festival

The Cape Winelands Film Festival screens quality films that engage, inspire and deepen our common humanity. Many of the films are simply unavailable elsewhere or are not distributed in South Africa.

Festivities range from open air film screenings to educational talks on film, informal receptions with guest celebrities to over a dozen cooking demos, live entertainment, barrel tastings and fun for all ages.


The Cape Town Carnival 2011

When: 19th March 2011

Proceedings will start at 8.30pm and proceed down the "Carnival Corridor" in Long Street, through the purpose-built gateway that will be ablaze with colour, lights, lasers and dancers, welcoming all to the Carnival.

150 Harley-Davidsons will precede the event, heralding the grand entrance of nine spectacular floats and over 2 000 dancers in elaborate and colourful costumes.

Pulsating music from the floats will provide the rhythm for the dancers, and spotlights, big screens and giant puppets will add to the magical atmosphere.


Kday 2011

Santam and Kfm one of Cape Town's radio stations hosts the annual K-Day Music Festival.

Franschhoek Oesfees 2011

The Franschhoek Valley celebrates the end of its wine harvest with the Franschhoek Oesfees 2011, the 4th annual wine, food and live music festival held in association with the ATKV.

Musicians include Radio Kalahari Orkes, Valiant Swart & Ollie Viljoen, Stef Bos and Tribal Echo with the ever-popular Hannes Coetzee (of Karoo Kitaar Blues "spoon-slide" fame) and new Cape dynamo Les Javan.

Food stalls provide authentic local Kaapse kos, like snoek & patats, askoek & jams, bobotie and waterblommetjie bredie.
