Voorkamerfest

This is the time of year when residents of Darling open up their homes to host professional performances by local and international artists.

Music, drama, mime, comedy and cabaret are performed in the lounges or “voorkamers” (literally: front rooms) of 21 Darling homes throughout the village.

Darling taxi drivers take festival visitors from home to home on a number of set routes – each route features three homes and three performances. The beauty of this format is the surprise element: Visitors don’t know beforehand which performances they will see on their route, nor which theatre homes they will visit.

Each venue accommodates only a maximum of 25 people, so intimacy is guaranteed. So too is the genuine hospitality of the homeowners.


Franschhoek Uncorked

Celebrate the arrival of spring by heading off to the beautiful village of Franschhoek for the annual Franschhoek Uncorked festival.

Wineries in and around the scenic valley welcome the fresh, new season, using the opportunity to showcase their exciting new vintages and releases, and putting on a string of special events for visitors.


Out The Box Festival

Out The Box is the largest puppetry and visual performance festival on the African sub continent that caters to both adults and children over an eight-day period, with shows running throughout the day and every evening.

Workshops, talks and exhibitions, vendors provide delicious food for patrons between shows and bars and coffee stalls at all the venues add to the atmosphere.


Agri Mega Week

Agri Mega Week strive to create a platform where producer, input supplier, service agent and public, with interest in agriculture and specifically the small grain trade, can participate interactively, do business and learn.


Darling Wild Flower Show

The Darling Wildflower Show takes place annually over the third weekend in September at the Darling Club.

The wildflower show include natural displays which reflect the geographical diversity of the veld surrounding Darling.

The displays include the botanical and common names of all flowers exhibited as well as interesting information on conservation. The detail can vary substantially, being that the Darling Flora is all about the extravagant diversity and fragrance.

While the big picture displays such as the fields of daisies, are magnificent, it is the small detail that will fascinate, as will the wondrous scent of the veld.


The Cape Town International Boat Show

The Hermanus Whale Festival

Hermanus, known as the best land-based whale watching destination in the world, plays host to thousands of visitors who flock to the seaside resort to exhilarate in the unique natural environment, watch the whales and revel in music and African rhythms during the festival

The Whales are always the star performers at the festival and will be joined on land by great food, quality crafters, sport events, kids entertainment and thousands of people celebrating Spring.
